In the Cihai dictionary, the character 叢 (zang5) refers to gathering or clustering, and also to trees that grow together — plants rooted side by side, forming a shared presence.
In Chaoshan dialect, 叢 functions as a measure word interchangeable with "棵":
a cluster of flowers, a cluster of trees, a cluster of tea plants.

Dancong | 單叢 (Duan1 Zang5)
Phoenix Dancong tea is a signature specialty of Chaozhou. The name reflects its essence: one plant, one aroma, one tea, one character.
After generations of cultivation by tea farmers, if a single tea tree is recognized for its distinctive and exceptional fragrance, it is harvested and processed individually. Such a tree is called a Dancong tea tree, and the tea produced from it is known as Dancong tea. "Fenghuang Dancong" is the collective name for these outstanding individual cultivars.
